Absolutely! We enjoy teaching students of all skill levels, experience levels, and coordination levels. Yes, we realize you may not have been a dancer or gymnast or olympian prior to taking our class. 🙂
All of our “Intro to Aerial” classes are beginner friendly. We start learning about the aerial sling by showing you how to sit in the loop of the sling; It is a lot like sitting in a chair or on a swing. Then we show you ways to pose elegantly while you are sitting. We teach skills through progressions, and you are never forced to do a skill you are not comfortable with executing. Each apparatus is hanging above a soft mat, and you will not be asked to climb up the fabric until you are ready. If you are still nervous about trying aerial, email or call us so we can talk you into trying a class. We love beginners, and we can’t wait to get you in the air.
We aren’t going to tell you aerial is easy, but it is worth the effort!
Yes! Aerial is artistic, so we want all our aerialists to have an opportunity to perform for an audience.
At Aerial Joy we like to call our show a student showcase production since most people think of recitals as being exclusively for children. We want all of our students performing—youth and adults.
We assume all Aerial Joy Students will be performing in the Student Showcase. It is one unit of study in our yearly curriculum. If you or your child do not want to participate in the 2025 Student Showcase, please fill-out this Opt Out Form. During the show preparation unit of study each year, your child will practice for the show, but they will not be required to participate in the day of the show if they opt out.
Private lessons are a great option to get specialized instruction based on your skill level or fitness goals. One or two people can attend a private lesson. Press the “Reserve Your Spot” button to find a private lesson time that works for you.
Not sure which class level (Example: Sling 1, Sling 2, Silk 1, Silk 2) you should take at Aerial Joy. Schedule a private lesson so we can figure that out.
As part of our training, students will share fabrics—one fabric per two students—taking turns to observe and rest between exercises.
